Sheila Costa

Sheila is originally from New Hampshire and has been dancing since the age of 5. As a child Sheila was taught by Gary Flannery, a Bob Fosse extraordinaire.

 

She received her Associate of Arts Degree in Dance with a focus in Pedagogy, and Composition and Creative Movement from Dean College. Her background includes Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary Performance, and Hip-Hop. Sheila also performed as a member of the Dean College Dance Team.

 

Sheila has trained with some of the best on the east coast
such as Jill Silverman, Nailah Bellinger, Desmond Richardson, Denise Jefferson, and Joan Phelps Palladino to name a few. After college, Sheila moved to Connecticut to perform in Annie at the Warner Theatre. She then moved to Orlando Florida to dance in local shows and studios. After a few years she moved to
Biloxi Mississippi to teach a Fosse Intensive to local studios. Upon returning home to New Hamphire, she taught and choreographed at studios and high schools in the area and also coached varsity cheerleading for two years.

 

Her local theater credits include Brigadoon (playing Jean
Maclaren), Hello, Dolly! (playing Minnie Fay), Joseph and the amazing technicolor dream coat (playing
the Tango Dancer), and Gypsy (playing Gypsy Rose Lee).

She joined Weathervane Theatre for a Fosse mashup called “All That Jazz”. She also joined Jean’s Playhouse for a rendition of Seussical the Musical. Sheila also performed numerous roles in the local Nutcracker each year roles include, Sugar Plum Fairy, flower waltz Fairy, Rat Queen, Russian, Snow, Arabian, Dolls, Spanish, and Sugar Fairy.

 

Sheila took a break from dance to get married and have two wonderful children. She has been in Springfield and a she and her lovely daughter have been a part of the Studio VIE family for 3 years, with Miss Sheila joining our faculty in 2023.


Sheila is currently a member of the Springfield Dance Alliance.
